SAFETY IS WHAT MATTERS – A new billboard on Ridge Avenue in New Cumberland points out that school buses carrying children travel Route 2 through New Cumberland along with large trucks. Brothers George and Tim Hines erected the billboard to focus on the need to Build 5A Alternate to Route 2 to ensure the safety of students. Sen. Wm. Ihlenfeld scheduled a meeting in New Cumberland with residents, County Commissioners, Mayor Dick Blackwell and City Council and Delegates Randy Swartzmiller and Pat McGeehan with ept. of Highway officials to convey concerns with Alternate 4, the route selected by the DOH.
