Ruth Ann Carson, age 69, lifelong resident of Newell Heights, passed away at her home under hospice care on Wednesday, October 15, 2020.
She leaves behind a loving husband, Gerald Carson of Newell, whom she married September 14, 1974, daughter Christy Stewart (Ken) and granddaughter Olivia of New Castle, PA; son Jeffery Carson (Riley) of Robinson Township, PA; sister Linda Haddock (Jim) of Virginia as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Helen Cordray of Newell and daughters Carrie Ann and Amy Marie Carson.
Ruth was born in her parent’s home on July, 7th, 1951, and was a 1969 graduate of Oak Glen High School. Ruth worked at TS&T, Riverview Florist, Fox’s Nursing Home as an aide, and Weirton Medical Center as a phlebotomist, but her main focus was on the care of her family. Ruth was a passionate animal lover and it was not uncommon for her to be caring for numerous pets and sick or injured animals, especially birds. She also enjoyed decorating her home just right, inside and out, for all of the holidays, and adding special touches to holiday meals. Her greatest joy was in the birth of her granddaughter Olivia and they enjoyed many adventures visiting zoos and animal parks together.
The family would like to thank the staff at Weirton Medical Center CCU as well as the Ohio Valley Hospice team for their kind and compassionate care. We would also like to thank our friends and family for their love, support, and prayers.
Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Hancock County Humane Society or Hospice of the Valley. Ruth Ann’s arrangements were handled by the Arner Funeral Chapel.
