Distributes awards


The Hancock County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Awards were distributed to the 2020 recipients individually this year in lieu of a group ceremony in an effort to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines. Catherine Ferrari, Bank President and CEO and Chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors stated, “The worthwhile and dedicated work accomplished in our communities by so many individuals and organizations is indeed impressive and humbling.  The projects outlined in the applications we received are a testament to the commitment, to the compassion, and to the impressive achievements of these groups.” 
Ferrari continued, “We thank everyone who submitted applications, and we commend them for the work that they do to support the needs of our communities every day.” Ferrari added that the work of the Charitable Foundation is in line with the mission of Hancock County Savings Bank, which in part states the Bank’s commitment to making “our community a better place to live.”
The 2020 awards total $35,000. The Foundation has been in existence for over twenty years and has donated a total of $902,589 to over 130 different local service and support organizations. Serving as the Foundation Board of Directors are Chairman Catherine Ferrari, Current President Steve Cooper, Treasurer Alicia Davis, Secretary Anthony Bernardi, George Ash, Romie Castelli, Cheryl Schreiber, Marvin Six, Doug Comm, and Drew Cooper. All of the Board members are volunteers. The 2020 awardees are as follows: Beaver County Humane Society, Brooke County Committee on Aging (BCCOA), Brooke Hancock County Veterans Park, Inc., Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network, Inc., City of East Liverpool, East Liverpool Community Partnership for Revitalization, East Liverpool Rotary Club, First United Methodist Church, Hancock Brooke Ohio Counties Victim Assistance Program, New Cumberland Ambulance Service, Inc., REACH – Reachout Emergency Aid and Christian Help, Rotary Charities of Southern Columbiana County – Rotary Club of Calcutta, Rotary Club of Beaver, Tri State Christian School/Mercy Baptist Church, Weirton Christian Center, and Youth Services System, Inc.
Funding for the Foundation is derived primarily from contributions by Hancock County Savings Bank as part of their mission, which includes a commitment to supporting the dedicated work of community organizations. The Foundation promotes charitable and educational activities and generally provides funding in areas such as seed money for startup costs of new and innovative programs, human services or educational programs, capital and equipment needs, matching grants, and one-time grants for programs not requiring refunding. The next round of Grant applications must be submitted by September 30, 2021. Following a detailed selection process that includes an evaluation of each application according to the grant guidelines, awards will be announced in November 2021.

This year President of the Hancock County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Board Steve Cooper has retired after 21 years of service. The Board Thanks Mr. Cooper for his service to the Community.
