Dorothy Marie Swearingen, lifelong resident of Chester passed peacefully at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Sunday, December 6, 2020, following a brief illness.
Dorothy was born on the family farm near Chester on December 2, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Earl Lee and Margaret Marie Allison Pugh.
Dorothy was a product of a true farm family, which meant that family was the most important thing in life. She lived this philosophy every day of her 95 years. Her family began with the marriage to her husband, James E. Swearingen on August 10, 1947, he passed on November 1, 2016. Together they raised two children, Betsy Ann Ford and her husband, Brad of Media, PA., and Dr. Lee Swearingen and his wife Terri of Chester. This led to the production of five grandchildren, Dr. Jamie Swearingen Picciarelli, and Adam, Molly, Dan, and Patrick Ford. Also, she leaves six great-grandchildren, and her brother, Charles Lee Pugh of the Pugh Farm near Chester.
Dorothy worked 32 years for the National Church Supply Company in Chester, retiring as Sales Manager. She was a life member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester and a graduate of the former Chester High School.
Her pastor, Rev. Katrina Lewis will celebrate Dorothy’s life at private services at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Interment will be at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Georgetown.
