Robert ‘Boomer’ Lee Desmond, III
Summerlin, Las Vegas, NV – Robert Desmond, 64, formerly of Chester, WV, peacefully passed at home with family and dear friends surrounding him on December 6, 2020, following a courageous battle with cancer. Always considerate and supportive, he had a positive impact on everyone he met, and the absence of that presence will be greatly missed. Boomer was born in Uniontown, PA on December 2, 1956, son of Robert Lee Desmond II, and Kathryn P. Slabaugh – Allison. He moved to the Chester area when young. He attended school in Newell and Chester, graduating from Oak Glen High School with the class of 1975. Boomer served in the USAF for 22 years as a supply systems specialist, doing his part during the Gulf War. He would later be employed by Rhino Staging & Event Solutions. With this job, Boomer was able to take in many Las Vegas acts, by setting up and tearing down stages. He loved music, especially from the ‘70s and his favorite group was The Doors, always able to sing along. His greatest enjoyment in life was sports, being active over the years playing football, basketball, and his favorite, softball, hurling the first no-hitter in East Liverpool Slo-Pitch history while playing for LeRoy’s Auto Body. Boomer loved ‘America’s Team’, The Dallas Cowboys, and could not wait for the NFL to start in the fall. He was also a huge fan of The Pittsburgh Penguins, attending many home and away games. He enjoyed outdoor activities, always out jogging, walking, or sight-seeing. Preceding Bob in death were his parents, his stepfather, George Allison, Sr., and two nephews, Bradley, and Joey. Surviving him is his wife, Kelly Doyle, of Las Vegas, NV., brothers Thomas Desmond, and his wife, Mary, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and George Allison, and his wife, Debbie, of East Liverpool, OH, sisters Susan Andrews of Newell, WV, Diane Wells, and her partner, George, of Chester, WV and Katie Allison of Gibsonia, PA, along with many nieces and nephews.
