John F Ash, 73 of Chester, passed away at home Sunday, January 10, 2021.
Born April 14, 1947, in East Liverpool OH, he is the son of the late Maretta Eberhart Stewart and John Malone.
John served his country in the US Navy as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class during the Vietnam War from 1965-70. After his service, he spent most of his career in banking, retiring as Vice President of Northern Hancock Bank & Trust in 2017. In addition to his banking career, he had great success as a small business owner.
Upon his return from Vietnam, John became a member of the VFW and served in various leadership positions as well as Past Commander of the Bob Milby VFW Post 6450. He was very instrumental in the enormous success of his post and its generous support to the local communities.
In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his step-father Harold Ash and great-nephew Ty Ash.
John leaves behind his brother, Thomas Ash; sons, John Ash (Melissa), Joe (Diana) Ash; daughter, Jennifer Lemley; and their mother, Cathy Ash. His grandchildren Sharadyn, Taiyah, Colton, & Bailey Ash; Christopher & Michael Lemley; and Evan Hughes. Also, great-grandchild, Cataleya Mancini.
John will be so deeply missed by his loved ones and also by his large VFW family.
Sadly, John leaves behind his beloved dog Lucky. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Animal Care & Welfare, 316 Noll Rd, Georgetown, PA 15043, from where Lucky was adopted.
Pastor Mark Blakeley will celebrate John’s life, Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 6:00PM, at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit 2 hours prior to the service from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM.
