The Hancock County Commission met Jan. 14 with newly-elected Butler County Commissioner Eron Chek joining the Commission for her initial meeting.
  The Commission elected Commission Paul Cowey as President and Commissioner Jeff Davis as Vice President for the coming year.  
  Mary Thorn, president of the Hancock County Parks & Recreation Board, provided the Commissioners with a presentation of the initiatives planned by the Board in the next year.  The popular Outdoor Markets will continue and plans are in the offing for additional programs.           Th;e Commission approved a change in the Parks & Recreation Board by-laws to allow for two additional members.

In other business, the Commission:
**Approved a change in the 2021 mileage rate consistent with Federal mileage rates;
**Approved the application for a 2021 Spay Neuter Grant from the WV Department of Agriculture;
**Approved the authorization for the WV State Tax Dept. to make changes to oil and gas accounts after Jan. 15, 2021;
**Approved Love Reese Wood for hire as a part-time 4-H program assistant
**Appointed Brian Peters as Chief of the Hancock County Reserves;
**Approved the following personnel and committee appointments:
