Board Seeks Meeting With Legislators

The Hancock Board of Education will seek to coordinate a meeting among the Northern Panhandle counties and their legislators in coming weeks to convey the issues they believe are pertinent to the school system. Board members initially suggested the Hancock County Board meet with 1st District legislators, but Board President Dan Kaser said when he was superintendent the meetings were coordinated with the old RESA county boards and their respective legislators. Superintendent Dawn Petrovich was given the go ahead to set up the meeting virtually prior to the beginning of the legislative session on February 10, 2021.
The Board approved a COVID local paid policy so that personnel who are forced to quarantine with the virus due to exposure at work not have to use their sick days. Petrovich said those employees are frequently identified due to contact tracing by the Health Department. Kaser qualified that the policy not be applicable should the employee not observe the appropriate COVID precautions.
