Clarence Childers, 93, of New Cumberland, passed away January 27, 2021.
Born in Weirton, WV, on March 26, 1927, he was the son of the late Clyde and Edith (Reed) Childers.
Mr. Childers proudly served with the United States Navy, during World War II. He served on the USS Gunason and USS Kyes. He retired from the Army Corp of Engineer as a Locke Worker. He was an avid golfer –having seven holes in one.
He held memberships with New Cumberland VFW, Chester American Legion and the Archaeology Club of Wellsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson; three brothers, Charlie, Orlando, and Dean Childers; and two sisters, Vivian Wenzowski and Mary Waldeck.
Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara “Bobbie” (Ward) Childers of New Cumberland; two daughters, Barbara Mills and Karen (James) Witherow of New Cumberland; two sons, Carl (Eileen) Childers of Chester and Mark (Glenda) Childers of East Liverpool; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel (Ted) Stewart of Md.
Military services were conducted by the American Legion Post 121 –VFW Post 6450 Honor Guard. Interment was held at New Cumberland Cemetery
Private arrangements were handled by the Nixon Funeral Home.
