On Monday, February 8, 2021, Vincent A. Gala, Jr., loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and Pappy passed away at the age of 67.
Vince, or Junior and Vinnie as others knew him, was born on July 5, 1953, in Weirton, WV to Vincent Sr. and Irene (Lassan) Gala, who preceded him in death.
A graduate of Oak Glen High School, he attended Potomac State College where he was a member of the football team before graduating from the WV State Police Academy. He joined the Weirton Police Department where he served for over 30 years, rising to the rank of Captain before his retirement in 2007. For the last 14 years, he worked as a Court Security Officer with Paragon Security.
On February 2, 1980, he married Cathy Marie Vargo, where the two would go on to recently celebrate their 41st year of marriage. They raised two children: a son, Vinny III (Katy), and a daughter, Maria (Scott).
Surviving are his brother, Joseph (Judy) “Sonny” of Follansbee, WV, sister, Ann Marie (Frank) Felton of Kernersville, NC, two granddaughters (Emma and Grace), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Vince touched the lives of many people and his legacy will live on through them. His greatest love was for his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, his Kubota tractors, and working on his farm. Also of importance was his faith, as a devout member of the St. Paul Parish, where he could be found every Sunday.
