Steven W. Smith, 58, of Weirton, passed, Monday, April 5, 2021, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, following a 2-month battle with complications of COVID-19.
Born, January 29, 1963, in Cleveland, OH., he is a son of Elizabeth Wilson Smith of Chester and the late Kelly B. Smith Jr.
Steve was a graduate of Oak Glen High School Class of 1981. He earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Kent State University. He was employed at Weirton Medical Center until becoming ill.
Steve was passionate about the outdoors, whether it be hunting, camping, fishing, trapping, or metal detecting. He marketed in traditional archery business for over 25 years. He was an amazing storyteller. Steve loved to give bear hugs and had a great sense of humor. He was a trusted friend to many. He was an “old soul” who would have loved to live two hundred years ago. Steve cherished his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful- “Pappy”.
He will be deeply missed by his son, Ethan Garrett Smith of OH., stepson, Dustin Lucas and his wife Bianca of NC., stepdaughter, Lacey Lucas of Chester; daughter-in-law, Carlena Smith; siblings, Kelly McFadden of Hurricane, WV., Jeffery Smith (Robbin) of Chester, William Smith (Karen) of East Liverpool, Rebecca Meily (Elwood) of Melrose, FL., Linda Rudibaugh (Rande) of East Liverpool, Larry Smith (Kitty) of Cocoa, FL. and Diane Shafer (Rick) of Wellsville. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Isabelle and Autumn Lucas, Bliss,
