Letter to the Editor

Dear friends of the Hancock County Museum,

Monday, April 19, 2021 is the deadline for Hancock County residents to email the HC Commissioners with their top three or fewer priorities for spending the $5.59 million dollars allocated to Hancock Conty from the American Recovery Act.
The special email address is: [email protected].
I’m writing to you to ask if you would please include the Hancock County Museum among your priorities.
Please ask the Hancock County Commissioners to allocate enough money from the American Recovery Act funds to finish the structural repairs on the Hancock County Museum, i.e., for the window frames.
Most of you know that during the past year a great deal of work has been done on the museum, almost finishing the work that was begun about three years ago with help from a Pugliese Grant. The museum commissioners had been hoping to get grants to finish the work, but with the pandemic making that just about impossible, and the museum literally rotting around us, we had to spend all of our endowment from the Wells’ family, plus nearly all of the interest it had earned in investments, for those repairs. We are out of money and need help to complete the window repairs that will put the museum in good shape for many years to come. As you know, the HCM is a great source of history, culture, and education for Hancock County, and we want it to be able to continue for many decades to come.
If you can please just take a moment to send the email, it will be greatly appreciated! And please ask your friends to send one too!

Take good care,
Vivian Weigel
President, Hancock County Museum
