Weirton Event Center Schedule Announced

Weirton, WV—The Top of WV Convention and Visitors Bureau announced today the Summer of 2021 schedule for the Weirton Event Center.  “We are so pleased to be able to re-open after the 2020 season was cancelled due to Covid 19,” said Executive Director, Terri A. Phillips.  “With many of the restrictions now removed, we are excited to offer some bands that have never-performed at the Event Center and a variety of everyone’s  favorites.

Friday, June 18, for the first time at the Event Center, will be Hoard & Jones.  Roger Hoard and Dan Jones are two of the Ohio Valley’s premier musicians with decades of experience.  Dig out your platform shoes and tie-dye t-shirts for the “Let’s Groove Tonight” – The Ultimate Earth, Wind & Fire Tribute Band from Pittsburgh for their first appearance on Friday, June 25.  For the July 2, concert, unfortunately, the Wheeling Symphony has been booked for another date and will not appear in 2021, at the Event Center, but we have already secured them for the summer of 2022.  There will be a show, but the talent is still to be determined.  Elderado, a southern rock/country band will make their debut on Friday, July 9, and if you can’t make it to Burgettstown to see Jimmy Buffett live in concert this year, the Event Center has the next best thing—Tom Watt, “The Buffettman—A Jimmy Buffett Tribute act.  He is the only impersonator who both looks and sounds like Jimmy himself! Get your Hawaiian shirts ready! Coming all the way from Nashville, the Hobbs Sisters are a modern country duo that brings a combination of big voices, twin sister harmonies and a high energy performance.  Opening for the Hobbs Sister will be a local favorite, the Ron Retzer Trio.

If you are in the mood for the oldies, Twice as Nice and the 40+ Band will have you strolling down memory lane on July 30.  August brings some “hot” country stars to Weirton with Shania Twin, a Tribute Act featuring Donna Huber as Shania Twain and Adam D. Tucker as Tim McGraw on August 6, followed by The Fantasy’s on August 13, and August 20, The Fossils and Led Foot Lover with former guitar player Carlo Volhl from U.S. Kids Band.  Gospel music will fill the air on Friday, August 27, with twins Brian and Shawn, the Chrisagis Brothers.  This Christian Duo of the Year for 2016, spreads their ministry of gospel music throughout the Ohio Valley.  Joining them will be Jamboree U.S.A. favorites Mark Statler and Jo Ann Jones.  These two performers have both opened the outdoor country music festival, Jamboree In The Hills with gospel music to the delight of the crowds for many years. September 3 starts the long Labor Day weekend with country and oldies band 7 South and rounding out the season will be The Vince Villanova Band on September 10, with a special dedication to Patriot Day-911with patriotic tunes along with the big band sounds of swing.

Mark your calendars now to attend one of these many great free concerts at the Weirton Event Center.  Please be considerate of your fellow attendees, if you have not been vaccinated for Covid 19, please wear your mask. No food or drinks are permitted inside the venue. There will be two refreshment stands this year with many mouth-watering food and drink choices for you to enjoy.
