Sue Fizer

Sue J. Fizer, 87, a lifelong resident of East Liverpool, passed at the Calcutta Health Care Center on Monday, June 21, 2021.

A daughter of the late Daniel P. Wilson formerly of Hammondsville, and Helen Mautz Wilson, formerly of East Liverpool, she was born in East Liverpool on March 14, 1934.

Raised with an extraordinarily strong work ethic, she worked 30 years for Ohio Bell and AT&T in the East Liverpool office, retiring as the assistant manager of the traffic department. Sue had overseen the direct dial cutover when the party line service had been terminated. Earlier, she had worked for six years in the communication department at the former Crucible Steel in Midland. Never one to be idle, Sue continued her volunteer work by helping in the office and serving on the Fellowship and Bereavement committees at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a loyal and devoted member her entire life. She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1952, and she was a member of ELHS Old Guard. Sue went on to graduate from the Ohio Valley Business College, and during her childhood had attended the Fairview Grade School in Wellsville. Sue and her late husband, Robert L. Fizer, who died on April 12, 2012, were active in the Tri-State Square Dance Club, enjoying many memorable evenings. Also, Sue was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

In addition to her parents and husband, two brothers, Daniel K., and George Wilson, and her finance’, Ray Flint preceded her in death.

Surviving is her half-brother, Carl Wilson of Columbia, SC., her special cousin Jim (Betty) Wilson of Wellsville, her special friends, Gary and Connie Barker of East Liverpool, many nieces, and nephews, and lots of special friends.
