“New Cumberland is proud of their many area men and women who have served in all branches of the military over the years. We would like to honor those individuals by decorating the town with military banners that show an appreciation for the sacrifices made by our town’s veterans.”
The streets of New Cumberland will display banners saluting their veterans. The City of New Cumberland 2021 military banner program is underway and applications are now being taken for those to be recognized for their service. The one-time cost to purchase a banner is $125.00 and includes a 24” by 36” double-sided banner to be displayed in the city and the bracket and mounting to hold the banner as it is displayed.
Those wishing to have a member of their family includes in the program can get an application at the City Building or Swaney Library or contact George Hines. Chief of Police Lester “Chick” Skinner also has applications.
The application will require the service person’s name, branch of service, rank, division/squad, conflict. Designations as POW, MIA or KIA can also be included along with Medal of Valor. A copy of the DD-214 for the service person is required upon submission.
