The WV Dept of Medical Cannabis is traveling to locations in the State to assist those registering for a medical card to receive medical cannabis. The closest location listed to date has been Morgantown. Registration for the medical card can also be done online by going to www.medcanwv.org. A list of physicians authorized to certify a patient’s diagnosis qualifies him/her for the medical card can be found on that site. At this time, the list of physicians does not include a physician in Brooke or Hancock County, but does list Matthew Wood, D.O. of Wheeling as qualified to certify a patient’s eligibility.
“There are too many West Virginians experiencing chronic pain due to a serious medical condition,” said Ayne Amjab, State health officer and commissioner of Dept. of Health and Human Resources Public Health Division. “Registering for a medical cannabis care through the web portal will ensure patients will have access to medical cannabis at the time the products are available.”
Officials expect the medical cannabis program to be up anrunning in Fall 2021.
