  • Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets for the book baskets or 2022 pocket calendars at RiverFest. Your support makes it easier for us to continue purchasing your favorite authors’ books and audiobooks. Congratulations to our five basket winners. We hope you enjoy them!Swaney Memorial Library will be closed on Monday, October 11th in observation of Columbus Day. We will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 12th.We had our first fall story hour session and it was a blast! If you missed it, we meet at 5 p.m. every Wednesday through December 15th. We are learning the alphabet and how to sign each letter in ASL. We sing songs, make crafts, eat snacks, and have a lot of fun! We hope to seeyou at our next session.Swaney Memorial Library is thankful to our friends at Happy Trails Training. We alwayshave the best time with their therapy dogs. And the kids’ confidence in reading aloud is growing tremendously because they have so much fun reading to the dogs. Our October Read With Roverprograms will be held a 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 13th, and at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30th. The dogs will be dressed up on October 30th, so feel free to wear your Halloween costume as well! Please call 304-564-3471 to register for these programs.Our annual day at Hogwart’s has been rescheduled to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 22nd. We’d like to thank everyone for their understanding while we tried to find a day that all of our volunteers could get together. We appreciate their help in providing this program.We are so excited to announce that Carol Hall will have a book signing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. October 23rd at Swaney Memorial Library. Carol was born and raised in Chester, West Virginia, but currently lives in Lancing, Tennessee with her husband and three cats. Her writing career began with her first book, Disappeared, in November 2019. Since then she has written several more books including The Journey North, The Inheritance, Full Moon Rising, The Witch of Broenwyck, Saving Grace, and is hard at work writing her latest, A King’s Ransom.
