HARRY EMMERLING

Harry C. Emmerling Sr., 76, of Chester, passed, Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Stone Pear Pavilion following a brief illness.

Born, August 24, 1945, in Florence, SC., he was the son of the late Lyman and Margaret Emmerling.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sondra Czech Emmerling.

Harry was a graduate of Wells High School Class of 1963, and he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during Vietnam. He later retired from Valvoline Oil in Rochester, after 38 years of service.

He was a Presbyterian by faith and a member of the American Legion Post 121 in Chester. Very involved in his children’s lives, Harry spent many years coaching the West End Wildcats youth football team and was instrumental in forming the River Rats Free Style Wrestling program. He loved being a spectator of High School sporting events, especially wrestling. Harry was an avid Bass Fisherman and could be found on most Wednesday nights launching his boat at the Chester City Park with the Wednesday Night Bass Fishing group. Also, he loved dancing, music, karaoke, traveling, eating really good food, Amish country, and tending to his prized garden. He enjoyed taking his yearly family vacation to Ocean City, MD. Beach.  A great family man, Harry could be described as tough on the outside and soft on the inside, but most special to his heart was his grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Patricia Morris Emmerling; sons, Mark Emmerling and his wife, Debbie of Negley and Harry Emmerling of East Liverpool; stepson, Matt Handley and his wife, Ashley of East Liverpool and Brian Handley and his wife, Stephanie of Chester; grandchildren, Mark Jr., Sonnie and Stephanie Emmerling, Garrett, Lee, Parker and Rylee Handley, numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his fur baby, Rosco.

Pastor Dirk Hall will celebrate Harry’s life, Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Arner Funeral Chapel, at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family for memorial visitation from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM. The Chester American Legion and VFW Honor Guard will present military honors.
