Your Imagination Station

With Miss Connie

Fall Conference was absolutely AMAZING ! I learned so much and now have a TON of new ideas for the library, and I can’t wait to share them with y’all. But, for now, let’s talk about what’s happened since we were last together and what’s coming up soon.

With our growing amount of programs and the fantastic community support, our staff has grown as well. You’ll be seeing Ms Amy Wilson or Ms Liz Hupp in the evenings and weekends, and Ms Kathy Rhodes during Storytime. We are so excited to have them join our team .

FAMILY GAME NIGHT  will be coming up next Thursday, November 4 at 4:00. Most of the sports have wrapped up for the season, so come on out and play a game or two with us.

Wait til you see some of the Show and Tell from our SIT & STITCH group. It just fascinates me to see all the ideas people come up with. If you’d like to join us, we meet EVERY Friday 11-1 and/or 4-6. It’s never too late to learn a new craft.  Our PLARN MAT group meets right alongside our Sit & Stitch group on the third Friday of the month, to prep bags to make mats for our deployed military.

We’re also collecting Christmas cards for our military. Most of us have unused Christmas cards in our stash, right? The Yellow Ribbon Girls are asking that we sign and seal them and they’ll send them off to our troops. Maybe even take a minute and write them a little note. So many won’t be able to be home for the holiday, so let’s make theirs a little brighter with a card. Y’all need to have the cards here at the library by Tuesday Nov 2 so I can get them passed along for the pick-up.

So what are you doing Saturday, October at 11:00? That’s right, you’re getting the kiddos, and maybe even yourself, dressed up and coming out to our Harvest Bash. We’ll have a costume contest, face painting, games, prizes, crafts and more. You don’t wanna miss it.

Tuesday, November 9, Jami Myers will be with us for another Dementia seminar. We had such a good response from the community for our first meeting, and we’re looking forward to having her back. She is a wealth of information and support for anyone caring for someone who has dementia.

We had a pumpkin of a time a Storytime last week, reading about the 5 Little Pumpkins, and a Mummy,  making crafts, and hanging out with our friends. This week the kiddos will enjoy a Costume Party, and I can’t wait to see all their costumes.

Do you like to make your own cards? Then come on out and join us Saturday November 6 at 11:00. For $10, you’ll be able to make your very own cards. All the supplies will be furnished, and you’ll go home with at least a dozen cards.

Who out there likes GNOMES ?  Check out the picture of our cute little gnome. We’re having a class on Saturday, November 13 at 10am. The cost will be $25, which will include all the supplies you’ll need plus instruction on how to make him. (If you went and bought all the supplies needed, you’d have nearly $40 in it, and a lot of left over supplies). So, for $25, you’re getting supplies and instruction. Please sign up by Wednesday, November 10.

MYSTERIES SOLVED AT THE LIBRARY is the theme for this year’s Family Reads Week. We’re still in the planning stage, but we want you to plan to come hang out with us November 15-19, and solve some mysteries. We’ll have more information soon.

Save The Date on your calendar for Saturday December 4. Since it’s  Chester’s Hometown Christmas celebration,y’all are already going to be out and about, so we’re having a BOOK SIGNING, with local author Brian Little. He’ll have his new book, Gretchen.

Do we have any STEELERS  fans out there? We are having a raffle for a STEELERS basket. It is FULL of STEELERS items. Stop in and get your tickets. The drawing will be Saturday December 4 at noon. Don’t miss your chance !

We will be closed on Thursday, November 11 for Veteran’s Day. And we will be closing for Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 25 at 2:00 and will remain closed until Monday, November 29.

Remember to keep an eye on our Facebook Page, Lynn Murray Memorial Library, to see all the upcoming events we have in store for you. You’ll also find our 3:00 Story, NEW RELEASE books, New To Us books, pictures from our events, and so much more.  Until next time…..grab a book and let your imagination take you places you’ve never been.
