IMAGINATIONSTATION by Miss Connie

Our Gnome class was a hit. We had 5 cute little gnomes being made last Saturday. Check the photos to see just how cute they are.

Our crafters are still meeting every Friday from 11-1 and again at 4. Check out some of the things they’re working on.

We had a great time Solving Mysteries at the Library last week. The kiddos got to hear stories, go on a mysterious scavenger hunt, make some crafts and pick out a book to take and keep. It was so good having so many kiddos and their families get involved in our Family Reads Week.

Speaking of families, we will be having our Family Game Night on Thursday, December 2 at 4:00. Hope to see you there. We’ve had more games donated to us. You should come see what they are.

We can’t forget about our Storytime kiddos. They had fun last week learning about Thanksgiving. They made Pilgrim boys and girls, an Indian head-dress, and a Thankful Turkey. Aren’t their pictures just too adorable?

We’ve really been enjoying having the third graders from Allison Elementary come over to listen to a story and check books out. There’s just nothing better than having kiddos fill the library.

Calling all STEELERS  fans !!! There’s still time to get your raffle tickets for the STEELERS basket. It is FULL of STEELERS items. Hurry on in, because the drawing will be held Saturday December 4 at noon. Don’t miss your chance !

Please make plans to join Jami Myers on Tuesday, December 7 at 5 to help us with Dementia Through the Holidays. Jami has already been able to share very helpful techniques in dealing with our loved ones who have Dementia. She is a wealth of information and support for anyone caring for someone who has dementia.

I am hearing so many GREAT ideas for our Gingerbread contest. I CANNOT wait to see how these all turn out. Remember, you get to pick your own theme and they have to be completely edible. You can drop yours off any time after 3:00 on Thursday December 2 or any time Friday, December 3 from 10-5. Our author, Brian Little, who will be here for his book signing, will be our judge, at 1:00.

So, let’s talk about Saturday, December 4th. We all know its Chester’s Hometown Christmas, right? But, what ya may not know, is what all is going on at the Library that day. You already know that it’s our BOOK SIGNING with Brian Little and that it’s our GINGERBREAD contest, and the STEELERS basket drawing, but…..  We’re also going to have Nancy Wright here with her seasonal paintings. Y’all have seen her beautiful work hanging at the library, and several of you have purchased her work. Why not come on out to meet and talk with her. She’ll be painting and she’s going to do a community painting for us to hang in the library, but she will need all of your help to do it. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? We will also have crafts for the kiddos to make, and Sarah will be back for face/hand painting. I bet you’ll find some hot chocolate, hot coffee, hot tea and maybe even some baked goods. So plan on stopping in and warming yourself up, and having some fun.

So how many of you have lonely, single socks lying around? Well, gather them up and bring them to the library. We’re making garland out of “stockings”. Won’t that be fun?

While you’re gathering things to bring to the library, don’t forget that we’re collecting for a toy drive, a food drive and a hat/scarf/glove drive. Let’s help one another have a little better holiday this year, shall we? It’s always good to make someone else’s day a little brighter, but ya know what? When you do, YOUR day is always made a little brighter as well.

Remember to keep an eye on our Facebook Page, Lynn Murray Memorial Library, to see all the upcoming events we have in store for you. You’ll also find our 3:00 Story, NEW RELEASE books, New To Us books, pictures from our events, and so much more.  Until next time…..grab a book and let your imagination take you places you’ve never been.   Connie
