Mary Lou Haynes, 82, passed at the Orchards at Fox Crest in Chester on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
Born in St. Mary’s, WV., on June 24, 1939, Mary Lou had spent most of her life in New Cumberland, WV. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Iva Olive Williamson Wigner.
Mary Lou always had a warm and welcoming persona when residents entered the Hancock County Court House where she worked as a receptionist until her retirement. She was a faithful member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in New Cumberland, and she was a graduate of the New Cumberland High School. Family dominated Mary Lou’s life, and along with her husband Joe who passed on June 9, 2021, she enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, playing in the Strumming Dummies Bluegrass Band, and square dancing at the R&J Lamplighters.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph P. Haynes, and her granddaughter, Misty Desimone.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Jo Haynes, and Jacqueline Lou Haynes, both of New Cumberland. Known as Mam to her loving grandchildren, they are Lynsey Desimone, Lacie Haynes, Josie (James) Miller, and Aries Headmond. Her great-grandchildren, Waylon, Abby Jo, Micariah, Emily, Wally, and Liam
, and several nieces and nephews survive as well. Also, she leaves her special sister, Bonnie Bailey of New Cumberland who was always by her side.
Mary Lou’s pastor, Rev. Sharmune Burgess will celebrate her life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Thursday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
