COWEY SEEKING RE-ELECTION

Hancock County Commissioner Paul Rex Cowey, III has announced that he is seeking re-election to the Hancock County Commission.

Paul is a life-long resident of Hancock County and has served as County Commissioner since 2017.   He currently serves as Commission President.  Paul is happily married to Kathleen (Mankowski) Cowey and is the father of Kevin (Emily Barnhart) Cowey and grandfather of Virginia Cowey. Along with his wife, Paul has owned and operated Kathleen & Paul’s Portrait Gallery since 1985 and is currently a member of The Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Paul is the first Hancock County Commissioner to be honored with the Rising Star Award from the West Virginia County Commissioners Association for his dedicated service.

Paul is proud of the County Commission’s many accomplishments since being elected, some of which include Hancock County being designated as a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County, the creation of Hancock County’s first Dog Park, the construction of a new concession stand and restrooms at the Gas Valley Sports Complex, and the construction of a new shower house and restrooms at Tomlinson Run State Park. The Commission was recently awarded $2.7 million dollars for the installation of a state of the art communication system for all police, firefighters, ambulance workers, and first responders to more fully serve all Hancock County residents.

The Hancock County Commission is currently working on expanding broadband internet services to unserved areas in the County and continues to pursue economic development opportunities to generate good paying jobs for local residents and to maintain a strong tax base to continue the best possible public services.

If re-elected, Paul looks forward to continue serving all of the residents of Hancock County to the best of his ability with honesty and integrity.
