Vera Mae Rowland, 90, of New Cumberland, WV passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Weirton Medical Center.
She was born February 1, 1932 in East Liverpool, OH a daughter of the late John F. & Ethel (McLaughlin) Armstrong. She is also preceded in death by her husband Richard Albert “Dick” Rowland; 2 brothers Elden Armstrong & Wendall Armstrong; and 4 sisters Nelle Bishop, Eloise Reed, Beulah Frasier & Miriam Armstrong.
Vera was a retired Nurses Aide from Weirton Medical Center, was a member of Nessly Chapel UMC and the Woman’s Assoc.
Surviving are her 2 children, Janis Schmid of Wooster, OH and Richard M. (Terri) Rowland of McKees Rock, PA; 5 Grandchildren, Scott (Amber) Schmid, Ryan (Kelly) Schmid, Lyndsay Rowland, R. Andrew (Kelly) Rowland & Brandon Rowland and 9 Great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Saturday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm at Turley Funeral Home.
Services will be there Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bob Macek officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
