The West Virgina Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Women Educators Organization met at 12:15, April 7,2022, with 16 members present at Garden Grill Steak House in Weirton, WV. The tables were decorated using the Easter theme – eggs, flowers, rabbits, and candy treats. President Diane Higigins welcomed the members to the April meeting, and she introduced our special guest, Southeast Region Immediate Vice President, Ginger Greene. SER IVP Greene shared information about the Southeast Region Conference taking place July 28-31, 2022, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She encouraged members to join other sisters with this “in person” gathering.
SER IVP Greene installed the new officers for the next biennium: 2022-2024. President – Diane Higgins, President Elect – Margo Polk, Secretary – Sandi Anderson, Corresponding Secretary – Susan Cullinan, Financial – Carolyn Allison, Chaplain – Bonnie Queses. The theme of the installation was correlated to the “camera.” President Higgins thanked SER IVP Greene for her part in the installation and gave her a gift of appreciation – a porcelain bell with painted violets.
Secretary Ruth Fuller read the March minutes. The financial report was given by Treasurer Carolyn Allison.
Chaplain Bonnie Queses presented the “Thought for the Day.” She read an inspirational story titled “Room for Another” from the book, Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul.
Membership Chairman Jerry DeFilippo gave an update on invitations that were sent to [prospective members. President Higgins circulated a “”hostess” form for 2022-2024 biennium, and Secretary Fuller circulated personal information forms and a birthday form asking for corrections and changes.
Under Unfinished business, a discussion on aid to Ukraine in the form of donations was held. Member Donna Roman shared her experiences and connection with a local Ukrainian family. Donations can be given to this family at the First Choice Bank in the name of Help Ukraine 2022: Nataliia Turianyn. The money will be sent to a local priest who will use the funds to buy defense equipment for soldiers / people of that town: helmets, boots, armor, etc.

Hostesses for the month Donna Roman and Margaret Polk presented plants as door prizes. Winners were Ruth Fuller, Janet Benzo, and Diane Higgins. A basket of pansies was presented to SER IVP Greene as our honored guest.
Member Nancy Conley will have a birthday on May 17. Hostesses for the May 5, 2022, meeting will be Nancy Conley and Bonnie Queses.
The meeting was adjourned with the singing of “The Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.”
