Janice was the daughter of the late Alvin L. Arner Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Hymes Arner. She was born in East Liverpool on July 31, 1929.

Janice was sincere in her endeavors and will be remembered for her warm demeanor. She was the epitome of the Lutheran Minister’s wife.  She married her husband, the Rev. Robert Adam Himmelman, on August 25, 1951, and he passed on December 31, 2000. She was devoted to her husband and her life was dedicated to his ministry and the churches in which he served. Among a multitude of church activities over decades, her passions included teaching Sunday school, playing in the handbell choir, and creating liturgical banners and chrismons. Teaching preschool was another love of hers. But her greatest joy by far, were times spent with her family in their home for holidays. Janice took great pride in preparing wonderful feasts to enjoy with her loved ones at these gatherings that were rich with family traditions. Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish these times and her memory. Janice graduated from East Liverpool High School, and she was very active in the St. John’s Lutheran Church of East Liverpool. She was a graduate of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA, and a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
