The Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Women Educators Organization met at Garden Grill Steakhouse in Weirton, WV, on Thursday, August 4th, 2022, with 14 members in attendance.
President Diane Higgins called the meeting to order and welcomed members. It was a wonderful setting on the outdoor patio.
In the absence of Chaplain Bonnie Queses, President Higgins offered prayer. Treasurer Carolyn Allison gave the financial report.
For Fraternity Education, President Higgins gave a report on her recent trip -July 28 to 31- to the Southeast Regional Conference to Willington, North Carolina. She shared information on attendance, volunteer house, altruistic and monetary/ non-monetary values. She shared information on the SER Project entitled “Kids Making It” – which is a wood making program where children make wooden items and sell them in a local store.
Corresponding Secretary Susan Cullinan read a thank you card for the donation to Longest Day, which supports research on Alzheimer’s.
Carolyn Allison, Ruth Fuller and Shirley DeLuca shared their visit with member Elaine Ferrari and Alpha Tau member, Donna Bohach, who are both residents of Wyngate Senior Living in Weirton, WV.
A Fidelis Gamma Policies Committee consisting of Shirley DeLuca, Susan Cullinan, and Janet Benzo will meet to update policies for the chapter. Afterwards, the Budget Committee will meet and finalize this area.
The August Leadership Conference will be held on August 13, 2022, at the Mollohan Center in Fairmont, WV
Member concerns and August birthdays were shared.
The next meeting will be at 12:00 on September 1, 2022, at Garden Grill Steakhouse in Weirton, WV.
The hostesses for the meeting were Donna Durkin and Liz Pugh. September hostesses will be Ruth Fuller, Carolyn Allison, and Eileen Snyder.
The meeting was adjourned with the singing of “The Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.”
