- James D. “Jim” Doak, 87, of New Cumberland, WV passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at home. e was born February 24, 1935 in New Cumberland, WV a son of the late James W. Doak & Mildred Myrtle (Glover) (Doak) Huffman. Jim is also preceded in death by 1 son James H. Doak , 2 brothers Harry E. Doak & William F. Doak; 5 sisters Jacqueline Ward, Kathleen Tate, Virginia Tate, Lucille Smith and LaVaughn Sue Ryan; and his step father Carl E. Huffman. Jim was a machinist and Tool Engineer at Weirton Steel Corp for 37 years; and was also in the US Navy for 8 years. Surviving are his wife Donna J. (Smurthwaite) Doak of 67 years; 1 son Brian R. “Randy” Doak, 1 daughter Brenda E. (Doak) Nichols; 4 grandchildren Mark Sims, Jessica Hall (Justin), William Nichols (Deana), Brianna Garcia (Michael); 6 great grandchildren Gracie Parks, Leah Parks, Mackenzie Garcia, Violet Nichols, Ace Garcia and Celine Nichols; several nieces and nephews and friends of many years who he enjoyed golfing with for about 25 years; he also enjoyed hunting and fishing his whole life. riends will be received Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Turley Funeral Home. Services will be there Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Sharmune Burgess of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating . Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to the Doak home following the services.
