OBITUARY: BEVERLY WALKER

  • Beverly Jane Walker, 84, of New Cumberland, passed, Friday, November 4, 2022, at her home after a brief battle with cancer.Born March 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Harold Bickerstaff and Martha Swisher.Bev was also preceded in death by her husband, Denzil Walker and sister, Judy Shenton.She was a graduate of Chester High School and formerly worked at Potters Saving and Loan and National Church. Bev was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool. She had a passion for reading and beginning many years ago until the present, served as the resident “librarian” in a prototype of today’s book club experience. Her love for singing began in the early 1960s with Sweet Adelines. She continued offering her beautiful alto voice to church choirs and local gospel trios throughout most of her life. Bev was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and over the years of 1978-1981, attended over 40 games per year.  Her love for Pittsburgh and WVU sports never faded. Bev and her husband Denzil were also famous for their excellent cooking and gifts of hospitality.  She was a “mom” to many who have beloved and oft told adventure stories with Bev present and driving the car…you all know who you are.She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Suzanne Beach (Jerry) of Bellefontaine, OH; Bruce Walker (Debbie) of New Cumberland; daughter Betsy Adams (Jeff) and brother; John Bickerstaff (Mary) of FL. She was deeply loved by her grandchildren: Jessica Little, Jacob and John Beach, and Brandon, Hale, and Abigail Adams as well as her 8 great grandchildren.Bev’s grandson, Jacob Beach will conduct services, Monday, November 7, 2022, at 6:00PM, at Arner Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with her family prior to the service from 3:00PM – 6:00PM.
