OBITUARY: BOB MANYPENNY

Robert Wayne “Bob” Manypenny, 76, of New Cumberland passed away at the Valley Hospice Caring Living Center on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, after a prolonged illness.Bob was born March 5, 1946 to the late Alice and RichardManypenny. He was a graduate of Oak Glen High School, West Liberty State College and West Virginia University. He began his career with Hancock County Schools as a mathematics teacher, followed by administrator as an assistant principal and principal. He retired after 33 years of service.Bob was also very active in the community. He was a member of the New Cumberland Lions Club for 50 years and served as head of the Membership Committee and as a four-time president. Throughout his life, Bob was involved with the Hancock County Parks and Recreation Committee, New Cumberland City Council, New Cumberland Finance Committee, New Cumberland Community House Committee, Babe Ruth/Senior Little League Program and the New Cumberland High School All Class Reunion Committee. Bob was inducted into the New Cumberland Hall of Fame in 2001 and received the Jack Harris Spirit of Scouting Award in 2011. Bob was also a lifelong member of the New Cumberland Christian Church, serving as a deacon for 25 years and treasurer for 15 years.Along with his wife, Donna Swiger Manypenny, left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Stacy (Mike) Cooper; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Powell and Jocelyn Powell Seacrist; his grandchildren, Kadence, Robby, Cole, Emma, Addison, Clayton and Luke; his brother, John (Sharon) Manypenny; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends.His family wishes to thank the staff at Valley Hospice for their loving, compassionate care.There will be no formal services, but a celebration of life will be planned for this summer for family and friends.
