ALPHA TAU

The February meeting of the Alpha Tau chapter (WV) of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators was held at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland. The meeting was called to order by President-Elect Fran Jones.

Chaplain Kathy Griffith gave a reading from Walking in Grace as the Thought for the Day. Velda Icard, secretary, distributed the minutes of the previous meeting and took roll call. Treasurer Angela Cunningham gave the treasurer’s report.

President-elect Jones told the members about corrections to make to the chapter program booklet. Altruistic Chairman Cara McMahan discussed the group’s participation in the Gabriel Project. Ginger Greene, Bylaws Chairman, called for a vote on the changes to the chapter bylaws that were presented at last month’s meeting.

The March meeting will include a silent auction with proceeds being donated to Cystic Fibrosis. Loose change collected for the scholarship fundraiser will be due at the April meeting. A drawing for the winner of the scholarship fundraiser gift card tree was held. Susan Grandick of Epsilon chapter was the winner.

The business meeting was adjourned and members worked with the Gabriel Project separating and organizing children’s clothing which had been donated to the project.
