NEW CUMBERLAND LIONS

President Dorothy Hawkes brought the meeting to order.  Lion Patty Burgess offered the prayer and Lion Jeanne Cox led the Pledge of Allegiance.  The minutes were accepted as read and the treasurer’s report was placed on file for audit.  Correspondence was received from Leader Dogs for the Blind and a Thank You from the WV Lions Sight Conservation Foundation for the donation in the name of James Gillespie.  Information was received from the District 29L District Governor concerning the upcoming District Elections.   The Chester Lions Club contacted New Cumberland Lions Club to discuss the upcoming Camp Horseshoe nominations and cost sharing.  New Cumberland Lions, Chester Lions and Newell Lions work together to cover the cost of attendance for 2 students.  Chester will contact the local high school to ask for students who might be interested in this opportunity.   Lion Jeanne Cox has distributed the Child Safety Seat Identification Stickers from the Department of Highways to local entities in the area that work with children.  They have been well received.  To obtain stickers, contact your pediatrician, FRN, daycare, etc., or contact CPS Coordinator, Amy Boggs at [email protected].  If a crash should occur, and the parent or caregiver is unconscious or fatally injured, these stickers ensure rapid identification of small children in car seats or boosters in the event of an emergency.  The parent or caregiver is encouraged to fill out the information on the sticker and place it on the right front corner (child’s right) under the cushion or center back of the child’s safety seat. The two small round stickers should be visibly placed on both sides of the seat. Lion Jeanne Cox has a vision screening scheduled for 2/24/2023 for students at the New Manchester Elementary School.  The Board meeting scheduled for 2/21/2023 is cancelled.  The next regular meeting will be 2/28/2023 at the Christian Church.  With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
