BOARD LEARNS ABOUT OGMS AND OAK GLEN HIGH ACHIEVEMENTS

The Hancock  County Board of Education met at Oak Glen High School Monday, March 13 as they continue to fulfill their promise to make meetings more accessible to all areas of the County and to learn more about each school in the County.

Mr. Smith, principal of Oak Glen High, and  Mr. Van Dyke, Principal of Oak Glen Middle School, provided the Board with a report of each schools’ progress with testing scores. 

Superintendent Dawn Petrovich reminded the Board that the SAT test will be given at both Oak Glen and Weir High on Sat. March 26 to Grade 11 students..    In addition to being used for college admittance the tests also serve as an indicator of student’s progress in the various subject matters .

In other business, the Board:

**Granted an unpaid leave of absence for Lauren Taylor;

**Named Daniel Spickard an unpaid/volunteer Asssistant Girls Track Coach:

**Approved a dock day for Margie Apesos, bus driver, and three dock days for Roseeanna Finney, bus operator;

**Approved a leave of abscence for Carolyn Puskarich, custodian at Weir High School;

**Granted administrative release for Haley Richards, Tammie Ficca-Moore, substitute aides, and Patrick McCoy substitute Custodian,

**Approved Tiffany Bragg as countywide substitute aide;

**Accepted the resignation of Jenna Butcher, substitute aide, countywide;

**Approved substitute aides Miranda Gibson, Charidy Ward and Casey Kell;

**Approved Lori A. Sokac as an itinerant LPN/AM Aide

** Transferred Christine Adams from Substitute cook to cook III, Weirton Elementary;

PERMISSION GRANTED:

**Oak Glen Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis Teams attend the Eastern Panhandle Tournament in Cumberland, Maryland and the Softball Team to attend a Clarksburg Tournament April 7 – April 8;

**Weir High Athletics to hold WVSSAC three week out of season practice period from June 12 to  July 1;

**Oak Glen Athletics to hold WVSSAC three weeks of out of season practice June 5 through June 24
