ALPHA TAU CHAPTER MEETS

The Alpha Tau chapter (WV) of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators held its March meeting at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland. Amy Hannahs, President, called the meeting to order.

Fran Jones gave the Thought for the Day, a St. Patrick’s Day reading from Walking in Grace. Roll call was taken by Secretary Velda Icard and minutes were approved as distributed. Treasurer Angela Cunningham gave the financial report. Officer and committee reports were also given.

President Hannahs reminded members to bring their change collections for the scholarship fund to the April meeting. She also announced the International Convention will be held July 13-16, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri and the WV State Fun Day will be May 6 in Fairmont.

Special ceremonies were held to initiate new members Michelle Lewis, Mary Lou Martindill, Cara McMahan and Angela Cunningham. Also recognized were Silver Sisters (25 years of membership) Fran Jones and Diane Bowers. Rita Schmitt, Sapphire Sister (35 years of membership), Michelle McHaffie (Silver Sister) and Pam Robinson (Violet Sister, 10 years of membership) were recognized but unable to attend the meeting.

After the business meeting was adjourned, members participated in a silent auction from which the proceeds will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis.

Hostesses were Cara McMahan and Angela Cunningham.
