HANCOCK COUNTY COMMISSION

Hancock County Commission agreed to provide $8,000.00 to the Weirton Transit Corporation at Thursday’s meeting. Philip Gilcrest, transit manager, wrote in his request that the $8,000.00 would enable the Corporation to match a dollar for dollar Federal Grant to draw down funds available to the group. As a result of the Commissioner’s donation $16,000.00 will be made available for the Transit Authority’s use. The Transit service assists residents in getting to and from medical appointments, treatments and shopping. In the future they would like to attend the service to Mountaineer Racetrack & Casino.

Two items which had been tabled in the last meeting did not return to the table for action when there was a lack of support to do so: the consideration to amend the employee policy in the wage and hour section under salary and wage administration, and deductions in employee policy and consideration to verify county assets in wv Corp. Insurance renewal.

In other business, the Commission:

**Accepted the resignation of Philip Poling, election clerk, and agreed to pay Poling’s accrued personal and vacation pay;

**Approved the hiring of Kayla Welshshans as Deputy Clerk in the County Clerk’s office;

**Approved the hiring of Samantha Tate as Deputy Clerk in the County Clerk’s office;
