Abigail Hunt, a student at Weir Middle School, was recognized at the Hancock County School Board meeting for being a Golden Horseshoe Winner. A competitive test given to eighth graders, the Golden Horseshoe test the students’ knowledge of the State of West Virginia. Hunt traveled to Charleston where she conferred the title of “Knight of the Golden Horseshoe.” Established in the 1930’s, the Golden Horseshoe is a long and prestigious tradition in the State.
