HAVA SUB-GRANT WILL IMPROVE ELECTION PROCESS FOR COUNTY

Hancock County voters will benefit from improvements to the County’s election process thanks to acquiring a $70,172.50 Help America Vote Act(HAVA) grant from the State Election Commission..   The grant is a matching grant and the amount will need to be matched by the County,

 County Clerk Karan  Valenti  told the County Commission at Thursday’s meeting that the funds will allow the office to purchase additional voting machines and”E-POLL BOOKS. The grant will allow the election office to improve cyber securing the e-poll books will allow voters of either party to check in allowing the process to move faster.

The Commission gave approval to a grant application with the West Virginia  Dept of Health & Human Resources for Juvenile Mediation Services.

A letter of approval will be sent to the Alcohol & Beverage Control Administration for a permit  to serve alcohol at the Hoopie Mountain Music Festival July 26-August 3 at the Get Together Picnic Grounds, Kings Creek Road.  Commissioner Eron Chek noted that the event had been held  in the past and the organizer was very responsible.

In other business, the Commissioners:

**Approved an Internal Budget Revision for fiscal year 2022-23;

**Approved Hancock County Saving’s Bank Certificate Resolution concerning public Moneys and Pledgee Depository Bond;

**Approved the employment of part-time Animal Shelter workers Whitney OsbornemAeryn Sheridan, Rickey Moore, Steven Edgell, Cole Beatty Beaver, Savannah Dulaney;

**Set the next meeting for June 27 at 3:30 p.m.
