After being tabled twice, the Oak Glen Baseball and Softball fields go the go-ahead from the Board of Education for upgrades to its softball and baseball fields. At a cost of $2.8 million for the artificial turn and $600,000.00 for lighting, the project is slated to get underway after Weir High’s athletic field project is completed.
Kristen Bissett, currently Weir High Principal, was named Director of the Rockefeller Career Center. Bissett will take over the job vacated by current Superintendent Dan Enich when he assumed his current position. This leaves the Weir High Principal position open.
In other business, the Board:
**Accepted the resignation of Elissa Greathouse, Fine Arts teacher, Oak Glen;
**Accepted the resignation of Debra Dunham, countywide substitute teacher’
**Transfers were approved for Jennifer Cooper Multi-Categorical/Autism, Oak Glen Middle to Multi-Categorical, Weir High; Jaime Fair, Grade 4 Weirton Elementary to Grade 1, Weirton Elementary; and Amy Hannahs, Multi-Categorical/Autism, Oak Glen Middle, to Educational Diagnostician IEP Spec. Countywide;
**Substitute assignments were approved for Erica Bennett and Kelly Rine;
**A recommendation that five days be added to the beginning of the school year at the Head Principals discretion to add five days to the beginning of the school year to assist with scheduling. Donald Wright was approved for Weir High with Sherri Garner being approved for Oak Glen;
**Steve Kettler was approved as Head Golf Coach at Weir High;
** Classified transferred approved included Sylvia Guthrie from Cook III, Central Kitchen to Cook II, Oak Glen Middle; Jennifer Colaber from Supervisory Aide/AM, New Manchester, Elem. to Supervisory Aide II-IV/ECCATK, Weirton Elementary, Miranda Gibson, Supervisory Aide II-IV/ECCAT, first grade Weirton Elementary to Supervisory Aide II-IV ECCAT, Allison Elementary; / Deedy Holbrock, Supervisory Aide II-IV/ECCAT, Weirton Elementary to Supervisory Aide II-IV – pre-K, Allison Elementary; Casey Kell, Supervisory Aide, II-IV/ECCAT, first grade, Weirton Elementary to Supervisory Aide II, II-IV, K-4, Allison Elementary; Linda Nicoles, Superisory Aide II-IV/ECCAT, first grade, New Manchester Elementary, to/supervisory Aide II-IV/AM, K-4, Weirton Elementary;
