The New Cumberland Lions Club held the annual Steak Fry at Tomlinson Run Park. The Prayer was offered by Lion Rick Tinsky with prayers said for the late Lion Tom Stiles and President Pam Stiles. Vice President Sally Greathouse presided over the meeting. Guests in attendance were Past District Governor Bernice Pitcock and Past District Governor Gary Pitcock. Business was waived and awards were presented. Past District Governor Gary Pitcock presented a Leonard Jarrett Award to Lions Bill Greathouse and Cole Young for their work to help our community on behalf of the New Cumberland Lions Club. The Leonard Jarrett Award is the highest honor given by the West Virginia Lions Sight Conservation Foundation. It was established in 1984 and is awarded to an individual or Lions Club that has serviced the sight and hearing needs of persons who cannot afford to handle those needs. The upcoming Pulled Pork Takeout Fundraiser is Saturday, August 26, in the Parking Lot of the Swaney Library. The final Pulled Pork Takeout Fundraiser will be held at the New Cumberland Fall River Fest in September on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th. September meeting dates will be a regular meeting on the 12th at the Christian Church, the Board meeting on the 19th at the New Cumberland City Building, and the final regular meeting of September on the 26th at the Christian Church.
