Louis R. “Lou” Nagy 68 of Chester passed on Wednesday, September 20., 2023, in the peace and comfort of his home and family. He had recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Lou was the son of the late Louis E. Nagy Jr., and Betty Cline Nagy Lytton. He was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on February 20, 1955.
The highlights of his life were memories made with family. Family holidays, hunting and fishing, sporting events of all kinds, he was always there for them, and those memories will live on forever. Lou applied his talent and love of sports as an Oak Glen baseball and football coach from which he retired in 2012. He also coached football at Wellsville High School. He loved running into former players and catching up with their lives. After thirty-one years, he retired from Weirton Steel where he was a member of the 25-year club. He was a Presbyterian by faith and a graduate of the Fort Cherry High School in McDonald, PA. Lou proudly served his country as a member of the US Army from Sept. 6, 1983, to Sept. 5, 1989. He was a member of the American Legion Post 114 in Newell.
Along with his parents, his stepfather, Gene Lytton preceded him in death.
His loved and cherished family are his wife, Tracey Bemis Nagy who he married on Nov. 23, 1985, his children, Erin (Todd) Matijevich of Clinton, PA, Katlynn Nagy of Chester, Jeramie (Adrianna) Nagy of Weirton, and Lucas Nagy of Morgantown, WV, his brothers and sisters, Robin (Rich) Huffman of Chester, Jodi (Larry) Headley of Chester, Rick Nagy of Newell, and Jeff (Elizabeth) Nagy of Morgantown, WV. So special in his heart are his grandchildren, Leyland and Lauren Nagy, and Halina, Todd Jr., and Naomi Matijevich. Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Father Bill Matheny of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will celebrate Lou’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Sunday, September 24, at 5:00 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post 6450 Honor Guard and US National Guard Honor Guard. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
