COMMISSION APPLIES FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR MAGISTRATE COURT ROOF

The Hancock County Commission will submit a grant to the Courthouse Facilities Grant to  put a new roof on the Magistrate Office on North Chester Street.  The Commission  approved applying for the 80/20 match grant.  The Magistrates’ Court building, was refurbished from an existing Dollar General Store and has experienced problems with the existing roof leaking.

The Commission approved hiring 5 full-time employees at the Animal Shelter, effective October 1.  A Rabies and Microchip clinic will be held on Saturday, October 14 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Hancock County Dog Park.

In other business, the Commission:

**Reappointed Garrett Nichols to the Hancock County Parks & Recreation Board;

**Approved a provider agreement on behalf of Juvenile Mediation Services;

**Heard from Mike Seckman, area representative of Congressman Alex Mooney, who told the Commissioners he was available to provide any assistance to them necessary;

**Reappointed April Manypenny Raines as Fiduciary Commissioner for Hancock County, effective September 2, 2023 to October 14, 2023;

**Approved 90 sick days to be used towards Thomas R. Cox’s resignation.

**The Commission will meet again Oct. 12 at 2:30 p.m.
