WORK PROGRESSES ON NEW CUMBERLAND’S NEW CITY BUILDING

Work is progressing on New Cumberland’s new city building on River Avenue. Work on the new roof is taking place and the next step is the interior demolition and the framing and drywall of the interior. Estimates for those projects respectively are $5,500 and $23,000.00 An online auction of the current City Building will take place October 17. An online ad is currently running on HOMETOWN NEWS with a walk through of a prospective buyer set for October 10.

Bringing water to Grassy Lane on New Cumbland Heights (Rolling Rock Road) was discussed. Fifteen residential users are involved and the request has been an ongoing one with Mr, Coxen. The estimate received by James White Construction is $98,000.00, but the City estimates the work could be done with internal labor for 1/3 of that price. Pat Jones, Water operator, said that the City doesn’t have the labor to complete the project. He said it would take a three- to four-man crew;

In other business, Council:

**Heard complaints about a dilapidated property on Straight Street. The owner should get a letter in the mail this week advising him/her of the need to correct the problem by a date certain or be taken to court. Fifteen homes fall into that category in town and will all receive letters advising them of the next step if they do not take action,

**Approved monthly invoices of $74, 650.98

**Set Halloween Hours for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On October 31 to coincide with Chester and those set by the Sheriff’s office for the unincorporated areas of the County.

**Agreed to pay part time workers in the labor pool $15/hour.
