BOARD OF EDUCATION RECOGNIZES GAME CHANGERS

A student and a teacher were recognized as Hancock County School’s first “Game Changers” at Mondays Board of Education meeting.  Superintendent Dan Enich explained the program honors  those who “make a difference day in and day out…who go above and beyond.”

Abigail Miller was selected as the student “Game Changer.”  Abigail was the recipient of the West Virginia Treasurer’s 529 Educational Savings “When I Grow UP.’

Abigail, who wrote that she grew up she wanted to be a pulmonary chemist was the regional winner and progressed to the State level where she won $5,000 as the State winner.

Kindergarten teacher Jennifer Curtis was recognized for going above and beyond her duties as a teacher.  Curtis, came to the attention of Enich after a parent of a student wrote Enich an e-mail bringing to his attention Curtis’s dedication to her job and her students.  The e-mail noted that Curtis, a single mother of three, does not conclude her duties at the end of a school day, but is always available for parent’s concerns.
