President Pam Stiles brought the meeting to order. She introduced guests District Governor Dan Heintzman and his wife, Lion Charlotte Heintzman. Lion Dorothy Hawkes made a motion with a second by Lion Alan Lee to dispense with the reading or the minutes and treasurer’s report. Motion carried. DG Dan Heintzman addressed the Club and provided several important upcoming dates. The Cabinet meeting will be held on November 18 at the Chester VFW with lunch at 1:00 p.m. and the meeting beginning at 2:00 p.m. Any member may attend. There lunch will be $10 for non-cabinet members attending. WV Lions Leadership Retreat will be held January 26 – 28, 2024, at the Days Inn Conference Center in Flatwoods, WV. District 29L Conference will be held March 16, 2024, at the Grand Pointe Conference Centre in Vienna, WV. The District 29L Cabinet Meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. the day of the conference. One of the causes DG Dan Heintzman is championing this year is Beacon Lodge. It is a camp in Pennsylvania catered to all ages and disabilities. It is sponsored by the Lions of Pennsylvania.
President Pam Stiles noted that the Adopt-A-Highway road clean-up is Saturday, October 14, but rain may cancel this. If it’s rained out, we may need to wait until spring. The Board meeting is scheduled for October 17 at the City Council Chambers. The Halloween party will be the night of Halloween in New Cumberland. It will be held at the Community Center in New Cumberland after Trick or Treat hours and will begin at 7:15 p.m. With no further business the meeting was adjourned.
