HALL IS LIONS’ SCHOLAR FOR SEPTEMBER

Avery Joanne Hall, age 17, daughter of Shawn and Natalie Hall of 309 Third Street Chester, WV, has been chosen as Oak Glen High School Lions Club Scholar of the Month for September 2023.  During Avery’s time at Oak Glen High School she has been a part of the 2021 and 2022 Oak Glen softball teams lettering her freshmen year. She was part of the 2020 and 2021 Oak Glen JV Volleyball and Girls Basketball teams. She has been a part of the Pep Club, Key Club, and Culture Club all four years of high school.  She was chosen as a sophomore for the Weirton Chamber of Commerce youth leadership program.  She was elected Class President her Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior years and chosen as Student Council Vice President her Senior Year.  She has served on the homecoming court her Sophomore, Junior and Senior years.  She has been a member of the prom committee her Junior and Senior year and elected to the Junior prom court in 2023.  She is also a member of Oak Glen’s Little Theater appearing in Miracle on 34th Street, Mary Poppins, Annie, Charlotte’s Web, Dracula, The Addams Family, and in November she will be starring in Little Women as Jo March.  She attends Westminster Presbyterian Church and is a part of their youth group.  She helps at Allen T. Allison Elementary School for after school parent involvement activities with her mother and gives back to her community by decorating or cleaning up at local establishments during the holiday seasons.  Avery was chosen by The American Legion Post 121 Ladies Auxiliary to represent them at the 2023 Rhododendron Girl’s State at Davis and Elkins College in June of 2023.  Next year, Avery plans to continue her education and pursue her love of musical theater.
