DEC. LION SCHOLAR IS HANNAH JO KLINER

Hannah Jo Kliner, 18, daughter of Brian and Julie Kliner of Chester, W.Va., has been chosen as Oak Glen High School Lions Club Scholar for December 2023.

During Hannah’s time at Oak Glen High School, she has been involved in various sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Hannah is a three-year letter winner in both cross country and track and field. She has been awarded four-time First Team All OVAC Conference, four OVAC Champion titles, four WV Regional Champion titles, two-time WV All-State titles, and has won the 2023 WV Cross Country title of Runner-Up.

Hannah holds a high standing at OGHS being on the Principal’s Honor Roll every year and being an active member of the National Honors Society, Key Club, Prom Committee, Student Council, and Pep Club. Hannah was elected her senior class vice president, served on the senior class homecoming court, was elected to the junior prom court in 2023, and was chosen to partake in the Weirton Chamber of Commerce youth leadership program her sophomore year. Hannah was also selected by The American Legion Post 121 Ladies Auxiliary to represent them at the 2023 Rhododendron Girl’s State held at Davis and Elkins College in June of 2023.

Within the community, Hannah is an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she serves as an altar server and has been involved in the CCD program and Food Pantry. She volunteers with community activities and clean-up tasks alongside working with the youth track programs during her summer.

Following graduation, Hannah plans to continue her education and further her running career at a currently undecided college.
