Bill Lawson, 92 of New Cumberland passed peacefully at his home while in the care of his loving family on Monday, December 25, 2023.

He was the son of the late Albert and Lela Sweat Lawson. Bill was born in New Cumberland on April 1, 1931. Bill retired from Weirton Steel after thirty years as a welder. For twenty years, he and wife Audrey owned and operated Lawson Realty in Cape Hatteras, NC. He was a member of New Cumberland Christian Church. He and Audrey were instrumental in establishing the Outer Banks Church of Christ on Hatteras Island North Carolina as well as many Eastern North Carolina Churches of Christ with the help of many faithful Christian friends.Along with his parents, his daughter, Kimberly Lawson, his son Tim Lawson, his grandson Nathan Lawson, and his siblings, Gene and Dewey Lawson, and Delores Phelps preceded him in death.Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Audrey Holbert Lawson whom he married in 1951, his son, David (Ann) Lawson of New Manchester, his daughter-in-law, Tamora Lawson of Frisco, TX, his grandchildren, Scott, Jason, Kristopher, and Brianne, his great-grandchildren, Courtney, Tristan, Trinton, Mattie, Jack, and Jorie, and one great-great grandchild, Landon.

Pastor Rick Tinsky will celebrate Bill’s 92 years of life and his journey to Heaven at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Friday, December 29, at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at the New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m
