DOUG PETTIT NAMED “TOP DEFENSE LAWYER” IN SAN DIEGO

Former New Cumberland resident Doug Pettit will be honored January 27, 2024 by the San Diego Defense Lawyers as the “Top Defense Attorney” in San Diego County at the group’s annual gala.    The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency in LaJolla where the Hon. Timothy Cassidy (ret) will  also receive the “Bench and Bar” award.  Molly Teas, Esq. will receive the “Outstanding New Attorney” award.

Doug graduated from Oak Glen High School and attended Bethany College where he graduated summa cum laude with a major in economics and a minor in English.   He received his juris doctorate degree from Washington & Lee College in Lexington, Virginia.  Doug has been licensed to practice law since 1992. In 2011  PettitKohnIngrassia&Lutz was founded.  Since that time the firm has grown to include offices in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Tuscon and was recognized as one of the fastest growing businesses in San Diego by the Business Times.

Doug  has received numerous awards due to his  extraordinary record of favorable outcomes and exemplary client services  He most recently defended a University of California in San Diego physician on a whistleblower case on a $10 million claim by the Board of Regents which resulted in a $39 million award for his client.  He has been recognized as “The Best of the Bar” and “Leader in Law” by the San Diego Business Journal, and has consistently been listed in Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers.  He is a fellow in the American Bar Foundation, a honor limited to one third of one percent of attorneys in the United States.

Doug and his wife, Laurie, are the parents of three children Kathryn, Margaret and Jacob.  He is the son of Tamara Pettit of New Manchester and Alan Pettit of Wheeling and the brother of Shannon Pettit Sayre of New Cumberland.
