NEW CUMBERLAND LIONS MEET

The meeting was called to order by 2nd Vice President Jeanne Cox.  Lion Rick Tinsky offered the prayer and Lion Alan Lee led the Pledge of Allegiance.  The club remembered Lion Dick Rodgers who passed away on December 30, 2023.  Lion Dick Rodgers joined the New Cumberland Lions Club in 1955 and was President of the Club from July 1, 1959, through June 30, 1960.   He was presented with the Leonard Jarret Award in 2000. The minutes were accepted as read.  Communications: A Thank You was received from the The New Cumberland Food Closet for the December donation from the Club. A Thank You was received from the Yellow Ribbon Girls/Blue Star Mothers of Southwest Pennsylvania for a donation in December to aid in their efforts to provide necessities to deployed troops.  A Thank You was received from the Clarksburg/Huntington Honor Flight for a donation towards their efforts to transport veterans of the WWII and Vietnam Era wars to see the monuments in Washington, D.C., erected in their honor  The treasurer’s report was placed on file for audit.  The By-Law Committee will be provided with the Club Template suggested by the International.  It will be amended to fit the Club’s needs.  A new pulled pork vendor is needed.  Suggestions are welcome.  Lion Jeanne Cox will work with the Chester Lions Club to set up a date for the eye screening to be provided to the New Manchester Elementary School students in the spring.  The Adopt A Highway will take place at the end of April.  Specific information will be provided when available.  Lion Jeanne Cox will organize Flag Day for sometime in April.  This is a program that is provided to the students at the New Manchester Elementary School. Lion Minute: The New Cumberland Hall of Fame ceremony will be on the first Sunday in February.  This year’s inductees are the late Edwin Flowers, Chick Skinner and Hugh Tate.
