Darl L. Roberts, 74, of Chester, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Born September 3, 1949, in Uniontown, PA., he was the son of the late Oscar and Vista Racey Roberts.
Darl was a graduate of Oak Glen High School Class of 1969. He was a proud member of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era.
Darl retired from Crown Cork & Seal in Weirton. He was an active, dedicated member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was involved with the United Methodist Men and many other ministries.
Darl was a storyteller, gifted at making everyone laugh and feel included. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing. The greatest joy in his life was watching his grandchildren grow.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Martha I. Becker Roberts, whom he married on May 16m, 1970. Darl will also be missed by his children, Jeffrey Roberts and his wife, Jill, of Metamora, IL, and Laura Ward and her husband, Nathan, of Pittsburgh, PA.; grandchildren, Asher and Silas Ward, Blake Sutter (Samantha), Logan and Ryleigh Hickman, Cade, Olivia, and Lila Bradford, Isabella and Keerah Roberts; brothers, Larry Roberts of Chester, Chad Roberts and his wife, Jeanne of Chester; sisters, Kenda Burnquist and her husband, Matthew of Westerville, OH and Arla Baxter of Huntersville, NC, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Darl was preceded in death by his sisters, Marlene Stone Seacat, Marva Savanick, Arlee Savanick, Sharon Remsburg, Leda Gerenscer, and infant son, Gary Roberts.
Rev. Sharmune Burgess will celebrate Darl’s life, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 304 Ridge Ave, New Cumberland, WV. 26047, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with his family, Friday, January 26, 2024, from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM and 6:00 PM-8:00 PM and 10:00 AM on Saturday at Trinity UMC
