DAKOTAH BROWN IS MARCH LIONS SCHOLAR

Dakotah Christopher Brown, 18, of New Cumberland WV, is the March 2024 Lions Club Scholar of the Month at Oak Glen High School. He is the son of Karrie and Brian Brown.

Dakotah, a senior at Oak Glen High School, holds a 4.19 GPA and is involved in various sports, programs, and activities. Dakotah is a 3-year letterman in soccer as well as a one-year letterman in cross country and track. He has been on the principal’s honor roll every year along with being enrolled in many college-level courses. He has also been recognized as a distinguished student for his SAT scores and nominated by his peers for the junior prom court.

Dakotah is an active member of several clubs and organizations such as the National Honors Society, Key Club, and Prom Committee. He shows common leadership traits as the treasurer of Oak Glen’s Honors Society and by stepping up for more significant roles within the prom committee. He was also selected to join the Judicial Scholars Program and chosen by his principal to attend the American Legion’s Mountaineer Boys State camp for one week the summer before his senior year.

In his spare time, Dakotah gives back to the community in whatever ways he can such as preparing income tax returns for Oak Glen’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program as well as assisting the Lions Club with their Christmas food drive and hanging town banners. He plans to continue volunteering within the community frequently after high school. Apart from this, Dakotah also maintains a part-time job on weekends and holds a few clients for lawn care services.

As for after high school, Dakotah plans to attend Robert Morris University and enroll in the honors program to pursue a career in business administration or mechanical engineering as well as join the recreational soccer team.
